La paroisse était une annexe de Logelheim jusque dans les années 1545. Après cette date, Weckolsheim fut annexée à Dessenheim et, par la suite, à Wolfgantzen.
La petite église étant devenue trop petite, une nouvelle fut construite en 1843-44. Le premier office y fut célébré le jour de la fête patronale Saint Sébastien, le 20 janvier 1844, par le curé Heitz.
Grâce à la libéralité de Barbe Rothenflue, le peintre Seelenmayer de Molsheim réalisa les quatorze stations du chemin de croix qui ornent les murs de l’église ; elles seront bénites le 16 juillet 1848 par le curé Bochelen.
L’orgue a été construit en 1848 par Valentin Rinkenbach et payé par voie de quête.
